What the hell is wrong with TEAM1040?

Posted in June 8th, 2008
by Oz in 2008, Baseball News, Newswire, North of the Border, Rants'n'Raves, Vancouver Canadians

So this week it was announced that TEAM1040 has thrown the Vancouver Giants a bone and will broadcast their games on what was formerly CFUN (now 1410 The Buzz).

Which, on the surface, is better than what the Giants had planned (a deal with CISL). But when you pry a little deeper, it flat out stinks.
First […]

Random thoughts on a slow news week

* The Oakland "Baby A’s" are on a tear right now, and as a Vancouver Canadians fan, I can’t help but point out to all MLB fans I know in the area that half the team that just kicked the ass of both Toronto and Cleveland, played at Nat Bailey Stadium in the last handful […]

The Vancouver Canuckleheads, and the sporting press that enables them

Posted in April 8th, 2008
by Oz in 2008, Misc, North of the Border, Road Trips, YouTube Clips

I don’t normally rip the Canucks on this blog, mainly because it breaks from the format, but after another year of the Vancouver sporting press filling 95% of their column inches with NHL minutiae at the expense of every other sport around, and with the team having self-destructed in the most lazy and heartless of […]

Thunderbirds and pussies: things that made me giggle today.

Posted in February 25th, 2008
by Oz in 2008, Baseball News, Newswire, North of the Border, Rants'n'Raves, UBC Thunderbirds

Lost 17-3 to St. Martins.  No real highlights to speak of
obviously.

I’m sorry, I feel bad for the ‘Birds […]

New C’s radio show and Rob Fai broadcasting all 76 games to be new features in 2008

Posted in February 10th, 2008
by Jeremy in 2008, Baseball News, Meet The Staff, Newswire, North of the Border, Vancouver Canadians

2007 was a great year for Vancouver Canadians fans.  New owners, renovated stadium, new ballpark food, the list goes on and on.
But don’t get it in your head that those changes were the only ones on the table. 2007 should be considered the "baby steps" season compared to what 2008 has in store.
So […]

Posted in February 1st, 2008
by Oz in 2008, Around The Minors, Baseball News, Newswire, North of the Border, Oakland Athletics, UBC Thunderbirds, Vancouver Canadians

Tons of stuff to report today, folks, so let’s get to it.
‘GLENN MAGIC’ GETS CALLED UP TO A’S SPRING TRAININGSeriously. According to the latest edition of the C’s online newsletter, Between The Lines, Glenn Hall, the Nat Bailey Stadium clubhouse manager who has developed such a rep for being A) an awesome cook, and B) […]
