So it’s Canadians season, and what am I doing at the moment? Watching 9 and 10 year olds in the provincial baseball tournament held in Victoria. Surprisingly, it’s good baseball. And the team I came to watch, my sister’s team, is just three wins away from the provincial title. All games are held on the internet, and I encourage you all to watch just a glimpse of it. Remember, this is a tournament once played by Jason Bay, Ryan Dempster and other MLB greats.
The website is Oakbay2008.ca and all games are broadcast live on webcam. Tonight at 6, Mt Seymour battles host Oak Bay, and my sister is starting pitcher for Seymour. A loss would mean Seymour could miss playoffs, while a win could give them second place.
Back to the C’s, they’re 10-19 and that record speaks for itself. They are 6 games back of first-place Salem-Keizer, with a three-game set in Eugene opening tonight. The Emeralds are only a few games ahead of Vancouver in the standings, and once home, the C’s open a 5-game series hosting Yakima, a team they struggled against early in the year.
Hector Garcia takes the ball tonight, and Vancouver looks to ride on their one-game winning streak.
Both Oz and I are super busy, with him writing articles in the sun on Bobby Ackles, and with me following a 10 year old baseball team around the province until Sunday. Sorry for the delay folks, it’ll be back to normal very soon.
