In the glory days of the Harlem Globe Trotters, the famous basketball team would travel the world putting on a show, night after night, in which they’d absolutely dominate their opponents with tricks and ploys and comedy routines designed to embarrass and humiliate the other team for the giggles of the crowd.

But in order to do that, the Globetrotters needed a willing opponent. That team, often, was The House of David.

Tonight, the Vancouver Canadians were the House of David.

Ronny ‘The Mauler’ Morla has been an outstanding pitcher for the C’s this season, but like former Canadians pitcher Joe Blanton in the majors, his win/loss line doesn’t reflect this ability.

After tonight, his ERA doesn’t reflect it either, for Morla was belted around in a two-inning stretch that saw him give up four singles, two walks, a steal and four runs in the 4th, and a grand slam in the 5th to Kyler Burke (who had six RBI’s on the day but has barely laid bat on ball for the rest of the season).

But hey, he was good in the first three…!

On the upside, ‘Pub Meat’ Barham and ‘Mess with the bull, you’ll get the’ Hornbeck came in and kept Boise scoreless for the rest of the game. On the downside, the C’s managed five hits and one run scored over nine innings - a David Thomas RBI single.

Forget we even spoke. We’ll never talk of this one again.
