No game report for yesterday’s game… because I’m not down with writing two reports for one game.
In the meantime, feel free to take aboard what I wrote for the Vancouver Sun:
Fresh off a series win against the Mariners-affiliated Everett Aquasox, and on a roll that has seen them win three of their last four games, the formerly struggling Vancouver Canadians have hit a rich vein of offense of late, culminating in a strong win tonight on the road against the Boise Hawks.
Lead-off man JD Pruitt was once again the anchor of the C’s victory, going 0-1 with the bat but drawing four walks to stretch his on-base percentage beyond .550, while Jason Christian exploded on Boise’s pitching, hitting two homeruns, notching two RBIs, and touching home base three times on the night. Catcher Dante Love also went long for his second dinger of the season.
Pedro Figueroa pitched strongly for Vancouver, going five innings and conceding just one unearned run off four hits while striking out six as the C’s ran up a 4-1 lead. But that didn’t last as relievers Fabian Gomez and Trey Barham let the Hawks back into the game, with the scores at 4-4 going into the final inning.
That’s when Christian notched the second of his two long bombs on the night, before center fielder Mitch ‘No Fear’ LeVier drove in two runs with a clutch base hit to give the C’s a 7-4 lead.
Lights out closer Juan ‘Goose’ Guzman shut the door with a solid ninth to take the win in front of 3,093 Boise baseball fans, which puts the Canadians at 7-10 on the season.
