Advice to Blue Jays press corps: Melillo gets REALLY pissy if you spell his name wrong.
So our post from a few days ago, suggesting that Melillo getting kicked off the 40-man roster would be a good thing for his career, turned out to be true.
Today, the Toronto Blue jays offered the A’s a cash deal to get him on board, and the Athletics said ‘righto.’
So 2004 Vancouver Canadians second baseman and 5th round draft pick, Kevin Melillo, is no longer in the organization. But don’t feel bad for him; he’s actually in a better spot to get regular major league playing time with the Jays than he would be stacked behind Mark Ellis with the A’s.
Melillo will be assigned to Triple-A Syracuse. Where it will be a bit colder than Sacramento.
In other news, Jeff Fiorentino, who was claimed off waivers by Oakland after Cincinnati had claimed him from Baltimore, has been claimed back by Baltimore.
Hope he didn’t sell his apartment.
